I feel like I start every blog post the same: “I can’t say enough about so and so”…
Well, this one is no different. I first met Brianne about a year ago when she contacted me about mentoring classes to learn how to use her camera. I’ve been following along with her and her husband’s journey ever since. Bri started her own photography business (https://www.facebook.com/BrianneLeighPhoto/) to help raise money for IVF treatments. Since then, her and Dave have opened their hearts and their home to a few foster care children, and it’s been amazing to watch them transform into the new rolls they play.
Bri emailed me just a few weeks ago about wanting an anniversary session for their 4th anniversary. I was thrilled and so excited that she asked me!! Her and Dave deserved these photos after all the love the give to their foster babies. So we talked about location ideas and outfits and set a date.
This session will go in my books as one of my favorites, ever.
Well, it’s not just how beautiful the weather was that night, or that we went to my favorite secret location, or that their outfits were on point, or that Bri has photography experience of her own and knows how to work the camera.. It wasn’t because we spent most of the day laughing, or that I was soaked up to my knee caps, or because we stopped at the Collinsville Drive In for ice cream when we were done, or because of the crazy lady who we named Pam that talked our ear off while waiting in line for ice cream. This session was one of my favorites because of Dave.
Now, that is in no way, shape or form, me hitting on her husband — haha — and I don’t mean any offense to any other man out there that’s been in front of my camera. I just have to give Dave a big shout out!!! Most men (and definitely my husband) HATE having their photos taken. Like, hate it. Complain the entire time, or they don’t really get into it. I do the same thing with every single client, every single time. And every session always plays out differently. When the guys approach photos in a “well, I have to do this anyway so I might as well give it 100%”, the photos truly turn out SO. MUCH. BETTER. Dave is just as fun and outgoing as Bri, and the chemistry was just perfect. I cannot even begin to tell you how refreshing it was to have a guy who was so easygoing, and gave it his all.
So, Dave… Thank you! Hats off to you. All the peanut butter covered ice cream, hold the nuts, for you.
And you too, Bri, for training him 😉 just kidding!!
B+D, you two deserve the world. Truly. I hope these images make you smile years down the road. I cannot wait to watch your story unfold, and to capture all of life’s important moments for you! I’m claiming you two as my new BFFs <3
